ASMSA to hold commencement ceremony May 25

HOT SPRINGS — The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts will hold its commencement ceremony at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25, in Summit Arena at the Hot Springs Convention Center. There are 97 students in the Class of 2013.

Three seniors will speak during the ceremony. Student Government Association President Sorena Lo of Paris will give the senior address. Mehr Shah of Little Rock will provide the welcome, and Dimple Shah of Paragould will give the senior speech. Lo is the daughter of Vanessa and Hue Lo. Mehr Shah is the daughter of Sitara and M.B. Shah. Dimple Shah is the daughter of Nisha and Himansu Shah.

Cosby coming to UCA

Comedian Bill Cosby will highlight the 16 events scheduled for the 2013-14 Public Appearances season at the University of Central Arkansas announced at a reception held on campus Tuesday.

An Evening with Bill Cosby: “50 Years of Making You Laugh, Smile, and Feel Good” will kick off the Night Out Series on Sept. 26.

The season will also include a Broadway Series and a Pops Series, a family matinee and two Distinguished Lectures.

Riverbilly, Trey Hawkins Band headline Conway Crawfish Crawl

CONWAY, ARK., May 3, 2013- The Conway Crawfish Crawl, presented by Crain Buick GMC, will feature live bluegrass, blues, and country rock music from Arkansas artists including: Geoffrey Myers, Lucious Spiller, Jocko Deal, Trey Hawkins Band, and Riverbilly, as well as plates of boiled crawfish, raffle prizes, a baggo league tournament, and a fly-fishing clinic. The event takes place from 4:00 pm until midnight Saturday, May 11.

Tickets to see the concert are $10 after 6:00 pm, and children 10 and under get in free. Boiled crawfish tickets are $12, and include: two pounds of crawfish, two potatoes, corn, and a commemorative cup. Raffle tickets are $2, and prizes include: a Yetti Cooler, a shotgun, and VIP passes to the Arkansas Outdoors Expo. Drink tickets are $3 each, and are redeemable for can beverages. Stuck on a Truck starts today

Contestants were checking in Thursday morning at Centennial Bank for Stuck on a Truck, a crowd-pleasing favorite at Toad Suck Daze and the ultimate test in physical and mental endurance.

The event will begin Thursday at noon under the cover of a tent near Toad Suck Square at Oak and Main Streets, one day before the festival opens to crowds downtown.

Pulaski Academy "Cuts Loose" With Its Production of "Footloose"

Pulaski Academy's drama and choral departments, led by Hollie Shepherd and Katherine Dudley, will present Footloose this week at the Conner Performing Arts Center on the PA campus.  

Senior Jordan Crites and Junior Bridget Davis lead this all star cast, which will include special appearances by a future Razorback and the best high school football coach in the State of Arkansas!
