Acxiom IT Careers Camp

The free IT Careers Camp is designed to heighten students' interest in the Information Technology career - which is working with computers and related technology. The camp is designed to educate students about IT careers and to encourage them to continue their education beyond high school. Students will be part of a group comprised of some of Arkansas' brightest students as they learn about interesting and rewarding careers in IT.

Attached is the schedule for the camp, which runs until Saturday, June 23.

There will be activities Thursday, June 22 in the College of Business building Room 308  and on the third floor of the Math, Computer Science Building on Bruce Street.

AND this night is special because we've teamed up with the Arkansas Modified Dolls (The different making a difference) and we are going to be able to help out the Faulkner County SPCA!

From FCSPCA: "Our greatest need at the moment is dry dog and cat food, horse feed and hay. Believe it or not we are gearing up for the winter already. So, we are stocking up on blankets, linens and pine or cedar shavings. We are also trying to replace dog houses.
We have a lot of dogs, cats and horses for adoption."

UCA to Host Reception, Public Reading for International Conference

CONWAY -- The University of Central Arkansas will assist in hosting the 12th International Conference on the Short Story in English.

This conference, held every two years,  brings together renowned writers of fiction from all over the globe including Ireland, France, England, the Netherlands, Australia, Sri Lanka, China, Taiwan, Portugal, Canada,  Indonesia, and the United States.  The event will feature reading sessions, roundtable discussions and panels, translation workshops and performances. All sessions will be in English.

The conference will take place June 27-30 in North Little Rock at The Wyndham Hotel, with special events at the Argenta Theatre and the Clinton Library.  More than 150 scholars and 40 writers will be in attendance from more than 20 countries. Several UCA faculty members and students from the English Department and the Writing Department will read and present scholarly papers.

Conway hosts child safety fair

CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) – A safety fair being held in Conway is open for all of Faulkner County.

The fair will be at the Conway Expo Center and Fairgrounds June 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Get your child fingerprinted and enjoy safety seminars such as bicycle safety and Internet safety.

You can also check out emergency vehicles like police cars and fire trucks and enjoy food and games.

LRFW to give a presentation at Camp iRock

On Wednesday, June 6 at 7:30 pm, Little Rock Fashion Week's Brandon D. Campbell, fashion designers, and models will give a presentation at Camp iRock, a free one week fitness and nutrition camp for pre-teen and teenage girls. The event is being held at Ferncliff  Camp and Conference Center, located at 1720 Ferncliff Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72223.

As the keynote speaker, Campbell will discus his experiences in the fashion and entertainment industries, give advice on self-image and on how to be "model" citizens in life. After Campbell's speech, and some prize giveaways, there will be a LRFW 2012 mini-fashion show. It's featuring one-of-a-kind clothes from the previous collections of Grafetti by 14 year-old designer Aaliyah Fisher, J.
